What is the deadline for registering for the camp?

We have blocked over 40 units of different types at the resort. These can be reserved on first come first serve basis. These units are available at the special discounted rate to KOA camp attendees until May 20th, 2009. Resort has limited availability and therefore do book your accommodation ASAP.

Lake Siskiyou camp site has also limited number of cabins. Do reserve a cabin ASAP.

How do I confirm my participation for the camp?

To reserve a spot, please follow 3 steps as outlined below:

  1. Send a check “Payable to Vinod Moza” for your cover charges @$50 Per Person. (Mail the check to address : 178 Racoon Ct. Fremont, CA-94539)
  2. Email confirmation to Vinod Moza at moza_vinod@yahoo.com
  3. Reserve a resort cabin, resort room, tent cabin or a tent site ASAP with the respective facility.

What are the charges for the camp?

Accommodation Charges: Paid directly to the resort or camp site (We have negotiated 20% Discount with Mount Shasta Resorts). These charges will vary based on the type of accommodation. Pl. see the rate chart in the previous bulletin.

Cover Charges for Meals and Entertainment: $50 Per Person – Includes 7 Meals (children under 5 are Free).

Individuals and Families are required to make their reservation directly with Mount Shasta Resort or Lake Siskiyou Camp Site:

Lake Shasta Resort: Call: 1-800-958-3363 and ask for Group Reservation under KOA

Lake Siskiyou: Call 1-888-926-2618 or 1-530-926-2618 (They are available mostly from Thursday through Monday 8 AM – 5PM – PST)

Which accomodation type shall I reserve?

We have been able to negotiate good rates with the resort. You may want to take advantage of the same.

Resort room that accomodates 4 adults starts from $104 Per Night. (Children under 12 are Free).

You can either book a Resort Room or share a 1Bed Room or 2 Bed Room accomodation with another family. While Siskiyou Lake camp offers good and cheaper cabins, you may not want to lose the opportunity to stay at the resort with Mount Shasta on one side and Lake Siskiyou on the other.

Accommodation Options:

KOA has been able to negotiate 20% discount with the resort.

Community members are required to book accommodation of their choice with Shasta Resorts directly at 1-800-958-3363 xtn 194. To avail the 20% discount you will need to refer to the group reservation made by KOA.

2 Bed Room Chalets (accommodates 6 Adults- Can be shared by 2 families): $197 per Night (discounted)

1 Bed Room Chalet (accommodates 4 Adults – Can also be shared by 2 Couples): $156 per Night (discounted)

Hotel Rooms (accommodates 4 Adults): $104 per Night (discounted)

Hotel Room with Jacuzzi (accommodates 2 Adults): $146 per Night (discounted)

Members can also book a tent cabin or a tent site with Lake Siskiyou Camping Resort at http://www.lakesis.com/ .

This camp ground is 2 Miles from the Mount Shasta Resort and offers spacious and clean camping facility. It is home to huge pine trees and has a beach, a major attraction for kids and adults, alike.

Dry Tent Site: $20 per Night

Tent Cabin (Small – accommodates a family of 4): $50-$60 per Night

Tent Cabin (Large – accommodates max 6 people): $85 per Night

Mount Shasta is almost located centrally between Zone 9 that extends up to Washington in the North and Zone 10.

For members who are joining the camp from other states or are from out-of-town, here are some of the options:

  1. You can Fly into the Bay Area – (San Jose or San Francisco).Arrive on Friday or Earlier and enjoy the hospitality of Zone 9 volunteer team. We have several members who will be happy to host out-of-town guests.
  2. You can fly directly to the nearest airports to Mount Shasta: Redding or Medford and rent a car or Limo from the airport to Mount Shasta Resorts (Under $100 for a Limo Ride to the Resort). The drive is 1 hour or less.

What are the cancellation charges for the camp?

Please check with the Mount Shasta Resort or Siskiyou camp site directly for their cancellation policy.

For the $50 cover charges (meals and entertainment), you will get a full refund if you cancel by Aug 4, 2009; there will be a 25% charge for Cover Charges if canceled between Aug 5 and Aug 29, 2009; any cancellation after Aug 30 2009 will incur 50% charges.

What are the food options?

Camp attendees will be served authentic Kashmiri food. The guests will have a choice of either Vegetarian or Non-Vegetarian (or Both!)

Variety of snacks, juices, soft drinks will be available.

Who is the Kashmiri Artist?

KOA has short-listed few artists of great repute. We’ll communicate the name of the artist as soon as the candidate is confirmed.

What activities have been planned?

Camp volunteer team is preparing an elaborate plan for engaging people of all ages. In addition to the traditional Kashmiri activities, cultural program and musical concert, we’ll also spend time visiting nearby waterfalls, beaches by the lake side, take scenic drive to some of the breathtaking points along the Mount Shasta Mountain, ……..

Cricket Match, Kho-Kho and Lathikinj-Lout Championships will be conducted.

Painting, Water Baloon Catches and Egg hunt will be coordinated for younger children.

For golfers of any level, you can get to swing at the best greens of the resort with beautiful backdrop of Mount Shasta. (Pl. reserve the same with the resort directly).

Does Mount Shasta Resort allow Pets?

No, the resort doesn’t allow pets. However, local kennels take good care of your pet while you are having a good time. One of such highly recommended local kennels is Fur Persons at 530-926-0480
