Kashmiri Medical Emergency & Charitable Trust (KMECT)

Once a patient approaches KMECT we seek the case details to be forwarded in the Patient Registration Form along with prognosis, case summary and other testimonials as required. Case is thereafter registered and assigned to the requisite service head which is categorized as
1. Referral Service:
Patients requiring medical advice from panel experts based in India or USA, in alliance with KOA and such advice on line of treatment is provided free of cost. Additional information, if required, is taken from the patient so that a holistic and comprehensive opinion is provided to the patient or their family.
2. Financial Service:
The registration form once received follows an established procedure. Each case is enlisted and cross verification of all details is undertaken including the financial details. Simultaneously opinion from panel expert doctor is sought. Once the complete verification is completed, the BOT members take a collective decision taken after considering all aspects.
As alliance partner the case details are shared with KOA to seek their views and understand the extent of financial support they are willing to share.
Case details are circulated through an appeal to potential contributors which is uploaded on internet and we receive donations. For critical emergencies, KMECT releases funds from Corpus Fund so that the patient does not suffer.
All funds are released in favour of the hospital treating the patient and in no case money is handed over to the patient or his/her family.
We do not insist that the patient receives treatment at any particular hospital but in case the patient decides to get treatment at any hospital of his choice, we limit the amount approved by KMECT to that normally payable at a competitive hospital based on past expenses incurred for similar treatment or as advised by our panel doctor.
3. Sustenance service:
Post medical intervention most underprivileged patients require medication for periods ranging from short term to long term and such patients are serviced by KMECT.
Herein patients have to follow procedure similar to that laid for Financial service. Patient receives medicines from approved chemists on producing letter from KMECT along with prescription and KMECT makes payment to the chemist directly.
All sustenance cases are approved for a financial year at time or registration and require fresh registration every year.
