Family Sustenance Program (FSP)
In response to the socio-economic upheaval caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in India in 2021, the KOA introduced the Family Sustenance Program. This initiative aims to provide crucial financial support to families grappling with the loss of breadwinners due to COVID-19 fatalities or job losses attributed to the pandemic’s impact.
Objective of the Program
To provide financial assistance to families experiencing severe financial distress due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, helping them meet their basic needs and sustain themselves during challenging times.
History
The program began in 2021 to address the financial challenges faced by families due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since its inception, KOA has provided financial assistance to over 80 families (2021-2024), with a total expenditure of $100,000. Currently, there are about 16 applications pending verification.
Sponsors
The funds for the Family Sustenance Program are generated through generous donations from community members and the remaining funds from the COVID fund. KOA appeals to all community members and friends of the community to contribute to this cause and help support families in need.

Zero-Overhead Program
100% of the funds collected are distributed to the selected families through a registered non-profit organization in India. All people managing and coordinating these programs are volunteers.
Process/Distribution
Identification and Verification: Families in need are identified and their applications are verified by the program coordinators.
Financial Aid Distribution: After verification, financial aid is directly provided to the families to help them meet their basic needs and sustain themselves.
Follow-up and Support: The program also provides follow-up support to ensure the long-term well-being and resilience of the beneficiary families.
