The program objective is to support the KP families in Kashmir valley and help them make their ends meet during hard times.

Objective of the Program

To provide essential food supplies to Kashmiri Pandit families in the Kashmir valley who are facing COVID-related hardships, ensuring they have the necessary resources to sustain themselves.

History

The Kitchen Sustenance Program was established to address the urgent food needs of KP families in the Kashmir valley affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The program has been instrumental in providing consistent support to these families, helping them through challenging times.

The funds for the Kitchen Sustenance Program are generated through generous donations from community members. KOA appeals to all community members and friends of the community to contribute to this cause and help support families in need.

Key Features

Targeted Support: Identifies and supports 44 families in Kashmir valley suffering from COVID-related hardships, providing each family with Rs 2000/- per month.
Community Outreach: The program was advertised through word of mouth and via coordinators in the valley, ensuring that the support reaches those in need.
Active Support: The program is actively supporting 44 families on a monthly basis, helping them navigate through difficult times.
List of Beneficiaries: Received a list of 55 families from associates in the valley to ensure comprehensive support.
Support Packages: Developed support packages with necessary food supplies to meet the families’ needs.
Distribution: The packages are distributed on a monthly or bimonthly basis, depending on feasibility and the situation on the ground.

Zero-Overhead Program

100% of the funds collected are used to purchase and distribute food supplies. All people managing and coordinating these programs are volunteers.

Process/Distribution

Identification and Verification: Families in need are identified through coordinators and associates in the valley.
Package Preparation: Necessary food supplies are assembled into support packages.
Distribution: The packages are distributed on a monthly or bimonthly basis, ensuring that the families receive regular support.

VDVinod Moza was born in Srinagar, Kashmir. After graduating from University of Kashmir she continued her education outside Kashmir. She is an MBA from University of Rajasthan. Professionally she has been in the financial industry for the last 24 years. Swapna currently works as a Treasury Management Consultant for M&T Bank. She came to US in 1993 and lives in Maryland with her husband Rakesh and two children, Shivani and Sachin.
