Under the able guidance of his grandfather, Late Sh Prithve Nath Razdan (Mahanoori), Rahul continued to put his thoughts into words. Poetry became a hobby that he used to express himself during the tormenting years of becoming refugee in his own country. He regularly would get his writings published in the esteemed magazine of the Kashmiri Pandit community - "Koshur Samachar". He also became an Associate Member of the Poetry Society India. Rahul always used to be a contributor in college magazines.

Kashmir has been his favourite subject. Being a Kashmiri Pandit and having spent his childhood in the most beautiful valley, Kashmir is his heart and soul. The anguish and sufferings of his people in the continuing Kashmir strife leaves him feeling helpless and devastated. He tries to use the medium of the verses to express his feelings. One can easily feel his pulse in his jottings.

These days he leads the life of a software professional. In between his hectic technical life, he continues to use his hobby as an exit for his innermost feelings.
