An Introduction to Spoken Kashmiri

Atrocities in Kashmir

Since 1990, planned and organized secessionist-terrorism has brutalized Kashmir, the valley of peace and exquisite beauty. Systematic efforts have been made to destroy its syncretic culture, traditions, and heritage, by an orgy of mindless violence fueled by religious fanaticism and extremism, aided and abetted from across India's borders.

Terrorism has taken the lives of more than 2000 innocent men, women and

children; the terrorists have indulged wantonly in abduction, rape, murder, arson, extortion and looting. Government officials, political leaders and workers, members of judiciary, print and electronic presspersons, and prominent citizens have been threatened, attacked and killed. Religious "codes of conduct" have been imposed on common people, and there has been large scale destruction of public and private property including over 400 secular state schools. More than 350,000 people of the minority community have had to flee their homes in the valley and today live as refugees in other parts of their own state and country. This is the "accomplishment" of the secessionists proxy-war in Kashmir.

The illustrations in the following pages give a glimpse of this unfortunate chapter of violence and destruction in the modern history of Kashmir. It is this calculated and ruthless attack on the innocent, all in the name of an illusionary "independence," that is the ultimate negation of the human rights of any people.

Recognize, Remember & Revere
Project R/3 is an effort to Recognize, Remember and Revere all those Kashmiri Hindu souls who perished in the latest holocaust perpetrated against them in the vale of Kashmir. It is very unfortunate that these innocent Kashmiri Hindu Indians, who were mercilessly killed by Islamic terrorists, have already been forgotten and forsaken into the history.
Recent Massacres of Hindus and Sikhs by Islamists
Eleven women, eleven men and two children were killed by the militants who numbered about 25. The village has 11 Pandit families, comprising 52 people.
Paradise Lost: Seven Exoduses of Kashmiri Pandits
So much has been sung of the marvellous and magnificent beauty of the physiography of Kashmir, 'Paradise on Earth' by saints and sages, philosophers and poets, mystics and bards, divines and emperors, historians and travelers from far and near, that I wish I could describe one hundredth of what they have sung.
Islamic Terrorism and Genocide of Kashmiri Pandits
350,000 Kashmiri Pandits, constituting 99% of the total population of Hindus living in Muslim majority area of the Kashmir Valley, were forcibly pushed out of the Valley by Muslim terrorists, trained in Pakistan, since the end of 1989 and forced to live the life of exiles in their own country, by unleashing a systematic campaign of terror, murder, loot and arson.
Massacre of Kashmiri Pandits
The Muslim terrorists operating under multiple forms of incarnations like Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muslim Janbaz Force, Ul Umur, Al Burq, Hizbul Mujahideen, Al Jehad, Ikhwan-ul-Muslim et al sharing visceral hatred against Kashmiri Pandits subjected them to intimidation, panic, rape, murder and sexual assault with a view to exterminating them from the soil of Kashmir.
Killings of Kashmiri Pandits
A deliberate campaign of targeted brutalities against members of the minority Kashmiri Pandit Community in 1990 led to the mass exodus of more than 350,000 people, in a bid by the terrorists to change the very demographic profile of the Kashmir Valley.
Loot, Grab and Arson of Kashmiri Pandit Properties
Once the Kashmiri Pandits have been forced to flee their homes and hearths to uncharted destinations, Nemesis started her dreadful operations. Having looted and ransacked their living abodes, the terrorists and their large mass of Muslim collaborators displayed their fiendishness by torching off the Pandit houses built with the sweat and blood of their life-time earnings.
Loot and Burning of Books
Ten prominent Kashmiri Pandit artists, twenty professors, thirty-five teachers, ten political workers of long standing and eighteen farmers were contacted and their book losses recorded. Some cases are highlighted to focus on the cultural genocide of the Kashmiri Pandits in their native lanc1 which political myopics still consider a tranquil secular oasis.
Atrocities on Women and Children
Every such act has its own tale of brutality, crudity and sheer horror. The pattern, however, is consistent -- kidnap a woman, and kill her after outraging her modesty. Or, rape and kill her in her own house in the presence of her family members, and then kill them all. Or, just kill indiscriminately.
Attacks on Minorities
However small the members of other minority communities, their members and even their schools, have been subjected to threats, violence and killing. All these show a pattern of how fundamentalist extremism has been used for the terrorist agenda.
A list of Martyrs who laid down their lives in Kashmir
Violence Against The Press
Under threats of violence from the terrorists, the circulation of national newspapers in the valley has been banned. Frequently, such bans are also imposed on local newspapers that are not seen to toe the line. Offices of the Srinagar-based papers have been frequently subjected to attacks and bombings.  >>>
Abductions and Killings of Prominent Personalities
A large number of prominent persons from all walks of life have been either abducted or killed with a view to striking terror among all sections of society. Political leaders, workers and their relatives have been eliminated to root out all political activity and create a vacuum which the terrorists could fill.
Brutalities and Killings of Innocent Persons
Cold-blooded murder of innocent persons is despicable enough, but the thirst of the terrorists in Kashmir for blood is not satisfied and their objective for creating absolute terror is not met by instant killing. The killing must therefore be accompanied by unimaginable brutality or the act of killing itself must be dastartdly or heinous.  >>>
Robberies and Dacoities of Banks and other Government Institutions
Banks, which are essentially public service institutions, have been rendered the most vulnerable as targets of terrorist attacks. Looting of banks at gun point has been the most remunerative source of income for the militants. Part of the loot is used to acquire more weapons in order to keep up pressure on civilians and administration.
Extortions and Robberies of Private Persons
Raids on private houses and extortions at gun point have become commonplace in the Kashmir valley. In all cases, the fear of being killed compels the residents to part with whatever valuables they may possess. The fear of reprisal also prevents the victims from reporting to the police.  >>>

Slide Presentation
Terrorism, whatever may be its garb, ultimately knows no faith nor religion and is undiscerning, particularly when it is used as a means to attain the ends of an external force.
